Gloss vs. Bonder Inside: which to use

Short answer

Shades EQ comes as Gloss and as Bonder Inside. In the US list we checked (October 2026), 18 shades are Bonder Inside only and 11 come in both. Every other shade, including the three Honey Coppers, is Gloss only (some markets outside the US sell the Honey Coppers as Bonder Inside). Gloss and Bonder Inside can be intermixed; adding regular Gloss reduces the bonding benefit compared with a fully Bonder Inside formula. Product ranges vary by market, so confirm local product SKUs.

Mixing and processing

Gloss and Bonder Inside can be intermixed; adding regular Gloss reduces the bonding benefit compared with a fully Bonder Inside formula.
Both mix 1:1 with Shades EQ Processing Solution. Any 000 Crystal Clear counts toward the color side: 1 oz shade + 1 oz Clear needs 2 oz Processing Solution.
Process the full 20 minutes at room temperature on dry hair. Porous hair gets full processing too, with the formula adjusted for the deposit you want.
Strand test first, and adjust the formula to how the hair responds.

Common questions

Is 09NB Irish Crème available as Bonder Inside?

Not in the US list we checked: there, 09NB is Gloss only. At level 9 the table lists eight Bonder Inside shades.

Do the Honey Coppers come in Bonder Inside?

Not in the US: Redken added 06HC Honeycomb, 08HC Honey Bee and 09HC Honey Butter to the Shades EQ Gloss family (September 2026), so treat them as Gloss only. European Redken material presents them as Bonder Inside, so outside the US, check with your distributor.
